The rescue
Jon Taffer relaunched Jolt'n Joe's as Gaslamp Social.
Gaslamp Social closed in April 2021 after the landlord evicted the bar for non-payment of rent. Post-show reviews had been positive, and Sean had taken on more responsibility for managing the bar.
What happened next
Gaslamp Social started well after the rescue. Sean was given more responsibility for managing the bar and performed well in the role; sales rose, the bar attracted new customers, and post-episode reviews were positive, with praise for the cooking, the management and the remodelled interior. The improvement did not last. The bar closed in April 2021 after the landlord evicted it for non-payment of rent, and sheriff's deputies carried out a lockout on April 20, 2021. The landlord cited rent defaults dating from before the pandemic and a voided 2020 agreement, so the eviction moratorium did not apply.
