Linda Lou's Time For Two, relaunched as Purser's Bar, closed in December 2019. Brandon said the bar had lost two-thirds of its customers; it was later sold to new owners.
What happened next
Taffer's visit took place in August 2019, although the episode did not air until March 15, 2020, just as the Covid-19 pandemic was starting. Brandon kept Taffer's Purser's Bar name, but the rescue did not take hold, and Purser's Bar closed in December 2019, four months after the visit and before the episode was broadcast. Brandon said the bar had lost two-thirds of its customers, that regulars disliked the changes, and that the speakeasy-style front made the bar hard to notice. The business was later sold to new owners, and the site went on to trade as Southgate Tavern.
