The bar was renamed Par Bar during the show, but the name was dropped and the original Pepe's name was later restored by new owners Erin and Ed Ryder. Reviews under the new ownership are mixed.
What happened next
The Par Bar name did not last: Victor and Laura Demoreno quickly dropped it, along with the golf theme and decor Taffer had installed, and traded briefly as Del Lago Bar at Pepe's. The Demorenos sold the business in October 2020 to focus on their five other businesses. The new owners, Erin and Ed Ryder, restored the original Pepe's Mexican Restaurant & Cantina name, remodelled the restaurant and reopened it in February 2021. The bar remained open in Canyon Lake under the Ryders. Reviews under the new ownership were mixed, with praise for the food and service alongside complaints that the food tasted canned and service was poor.
