Key dates
- March 5, 2023Bar Rescue episode “Outta Touch, Outta Time” airs — Jon Taffer's rescue of Rockabillies, relaunched as Bar Retro, filmed earlier.
The rescue
Jon Taffer relaunched Rockabillies as Bar Retro.
The bar was renamed Bar Retro during the show but did not keep the name, and trades as Rockabillies. Reviews were mixed, at 3.4 stars on Yelp and 4.2 stars on Google.
What happened next
The owners did not keep Taffer's Bar Retro name. Events in June and July 2022 were billed jointly as 'Rock-a-billies/Bar Retro', but by January 2023 the bar was using Rockabillies alone, and its social media profiles never adopted the new name; staff answered the phone as Rockabillies even while Google Maps still listed the bar as Bar Retro, which caused some confusion. The bar remained open in Arvada, hosting live music and events. Reviews were adequate rather than strong, at 3.4 stars on Yelp and 4.2 stars on Google: the remodelled interior was praised, but complaints about service and food persisted.
