What happened next
Sales at SoYo Craft Bar improved at first, but within months they had fallen by more than 60%, and the owners abandoned parts of Taffer's system. Torres said the bar could not have stayed open had it kept the system going, and Miguel disputed Taffer's concept of targeting young professionals, arguing that Yonkers residents who work in the city drink and eat in Manhattan before coming home. The owners listed the bar for sale in 2016 at $150,000 but received no offers at that price. Police visited the bar 65 times between July 2015 and April 2016, two men were shot outside it in August 2015, and the bar was fined almost weekly over rowdy patrons. SoYo closed in March 2018, holding a three-star Yelp rating from 21 reviews.
